The Problem

Everyone repeats the same hair rules.

Most of it is guesswork passed around online. Tap through the pile. Not one of these holds up.

The Science

We only trust evidence.

A lot of hair advice is built to sell products, not to fix hair. Every pick we make traces back to research.

  1. 01 Natural = Better
    The evidence

    “Natural” does not mean better.

A “natural” oil can be too heavy or irritate your skin, and the right lab-made one can work better. What counts is what suits your hair, not the word on the label.

  2. 02 Sulfates are bad!
    The evidence

    “Sulfate-free” is not automatically gentler.

How gentle a shampoo is depends on the whole formula, not one word on the bottle. Sulfates clear buildup well when your scalp needs that. The pH matters more: mildly acidic keeps hair smooth, alkaline roughs it up.

  3. 03 Never use silicones
    The evidence

    Silicones are not damage.

They coat the strand to cut friction and frizz. That is all they do. If they build up over time, one wash with a clarifying shampoo clears them. Buildup is a reason to clarify sometimes, not a reason to fear them.

  4. 04 Wash once a week only
    The evidence

Wash to match your scalp, not a set number.

In a study of 1,500 people, scalp comfort and good hair days peaked at 5–6 washes a week, with no loss of strength. Match how often you wash to your own scalp.

Washes per week vs. scalp comfort · n = 1,500

  5. 05 Curls need a leave-in!
    The evidence

For most curls, a gel does the job.

On healthy hair, rinse-out conditioner already smooths, and a gel holds the curl and fights humidity. A leave-in is for dry or damaged hair, added under the gel, not a must for everyone.

Why It Matters

People read your hair first.

Before you say a word, people pick up on your hair. Here is what the research shows.

  1. Healthy hair made the same face look more attractive. Messy hair cancelled that out.

    Mesko & Bereczkei, 2004
  2. Strangers thought people with visible flakes looked less confident. They were just as confident.

    Godbehere et al., 2017
  3. The same hair, once damaged, looked older and less healthy.

    Will et al., 2026
  4. People guess your age and health from your hair alone.

    Fink et al., 2016

All of this comes down to hair condition, not hair type. Condition is exactly what a good routine changes.

How It Works

How your analysis gets built.

Three steps. No app, no guesswork, no auto-generated template.

Illustration of step one: sharing your hair details, history, and photos

Tell us about your hair

Your problems, your history, your goals, plus a few photos. The photos read your hair type so you don't have to.

Illustration of step two: answers checked against peer-reviewed hair research

We check it against research

We match your answers to peer-reviewed studies in skin and hair science. Marketing claims don't count.

Illustration of step three: a human writing and reviewing your analysis

A human builds your analysis

Every analysis is written and checked by a person before it reaches you. Not an auto-generated template.

Questions

Before you start.

The things people ask most, answered straight.

How long does it take?

Three to five business days from the moment you finish your intake. You get an email the moment it is ready.

Is a real person doing this, or is it automated?

A person builds and reviews every analysis before it reaches you. It is not an auto-generated template.

AI assists at two points: reading your photo during the intake so the form can adapt to your hair, and helping the analyst work through your photos and answers. The analyst directs the work and checks the result. The full detail is in our privacy policy.

What happens to my photos?

They are used to build your analysis, and nothing else. They sit in private storage that is not publicly accessible, we never sell them, never post before-and-after images, and never use them to train AI models.

They are deleted within 30 days after your order is complete, and sooner if you ask.

Do I have to buy the products you recommend?

No. We take no brand sponsorships and no affiliate commissions, so there is nothing pushing a pick.

Your analysis names the best option for each job, tells you what to stop buying, and tells you what you already own that is worth keeping. Plenty of people finish with a shorter shopping list than they started with.

Can I get a refund?

Full refund any time before your analysis is delivered, with no deadline to ask. Once it has been delivered it cannot be refunded, because it is a completed piece of work built specifically for you.

If you added the 30-Day Check-In and cancel before it happens, that portion is refunded. Full terms in our refund policy.

Do I need to know my hair type?

No, and we do not ask. Your photos tell us what a self-assessed hair type never reliably does. The intake asks about your problems, your routine, and your goals instead.

Does this work for my hair?

The analysis is built around hair condition, which is what a routine can actually change, rather than around a texture category. That applies whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, coily, thinning, or damaged.

Where the research behind a recommendation was done on a narrow population, your analysis says so instead of overselling it.

Early access

No reviews yet, on purpose.

Oove Studio is new. The first analyses are going out now, and real quotes will appear here as they come in: published with permission, nothing invented.

Until then, judge the method instead of the testimonials. The Learn pages show exactly how a recommendation gets reasoned out, with the research attached.
